Little Girl T-shirt Dress

Welcome back! Thanks for stopping by!  This week I felt a need to be creative.  Ever had that feeling?  Seems like sometimes I just get bogged down taking care of kids, cleaning the house, doing the laundry, taking care of the garden, etc.  When I start to feel that way, I need to get creative, its kind of a therapy for me.

My creative needs mean my 2 year old daughter gets a new dress.  We have this great little children's boutique in our town called Sugarbritches.  They have darling cloths and accessories, particularly for little girls!  I always drool when I go in.  They had these really cute t-shirt dresses that I kept looking at thinking, hmm, I know I can make that, and for a lot less than the $42 they were asking.  Here is a picture of one of the dresses at Sugarbritches. First, let me apologize for the horrible quality of this picture, the store had closed by the time I got there, so I had to take the picture through the window.

Now, as I said, I think these are cute, but I'm not a big fan of the screen print pictures on the front.  They are kind of a vintage '50s look, and just not really my style.  Soooo, I went to Old Navy and found a cute tank top on clearance for $2.50, then made a side trip to JoAnn's Fabric for 2 fat quarters.

This is what I came up with:

The whole dress cost $4.50!  I love that price!!  That's like consignment sale prices!!  Later this week I will post directions so you can make your very own t-shirt dress.

This week I will be doing my very first link party!!  I will be linking up with The Virginia House for their We Can Do It Cheaper link party!  If you have never visited Jillian at The Virginia House, stop in she has some really fabulous ideas!

  1. Cute Mel! Can't wait to see it on the niece. Send me pics when you can. Also, call me and tell me how in the world to do a link party and what that means! I'm so new and totally not computer literate (you'd think with my hubby I would be). Great job on the dress!
